LOCAL SEO
There are hundreds of people searching for your services in your local area.
Imagine the potential that even a portion of these visitors could have on your business. We know they are searching for your services and we know how to draw them in.
What is Local SEO?
Local SEO enables you to attract customers who are looking for goods and services in your neighbourhood. Local SEO concentrates on two search types: local searches and location keywords.
Local Searches
When someone conducts a local search, they are looking for a good or service nearby. For instance, a person in Glasgow looking up “SEO Consultant” on their computer or phone.
46% of Google searches are for local information. The typical person performs over 3 searches per day. Let’s see how that example stacks up for A1 SEO’s hometown, Glasgow. With a population of 598,000, Glasgow has more than 1,794,000 searches per day, or over 54 million searches per month. That translates to over 25 million searches for businesses like yours in Glasgow alone when converted to local search. Imagine having access to that.
When someone conducts a search, they use a location keyword to specify when they are looking for a particular good or service. One might look up “SEO Consultant Glasgow” as an example.

Our Local SEO Process
Ranking a local website is straightforward. At A1 SEO we follow a process that we have refined over the past 6 years. There’s no SEO black magic here – just straightforward tasks. When followed correctly, this process will help boost your website’s rankings in the local map pack and on location-based keywords.
1. The Keywords.
First up:
The first thing A1 SEO does is examine the keywords that could potentially bring traffic to your website.
The foundation of any successful local SEO campaign is keyword research. We must comprehend how customers find companies like yours if we are to be successful in this.
Our local SEO keyword research adds a local component to generic keywords for your niche. We also take a look at other profitable hyper-locations as well as the keywords that other local businesses are using to rank well online.
Local SEO is an essential first step because we cannot effectively plan your on-page SEO and anchor texts without conducting local SEO keyword research.
2. Exact Match Anchor Text Links.
The next step...
We examine your link profile and determine how many exact match anchor text keywords your website has once we have some good keywords to target. Exact match anchor text refers to links whose text includes your keyword. At A1 SEO Glasgow, for instance, we strive to be found for the term “SEO Glasgow.” Links like “SEO Glasgow” are helpful for our ranking for that keyword. There are a few more things to think about, though.
Quality of Exact Match Anchor Text Links.
When we have a good list of target keywords, we examine your link profile to determine how many exact match anchor text keywords your website has. The text of links with exact match anchor text includes your keyword. For instance, at A1 SEO Glasgow, we strive to be found for the term “SEO Glasgow.” Our ranking for that keyword is aided by links. There are, however, a few more things to take into account.
Quantity of Exact Match Anchor Text Links.
Before thinking “quantity” means “more,” read on. There is a fine line between having enough exact match anchor text links to move Google’s rankings and having too many to flag your website as spammy. We limit exact match anchor text links to 5 per site and keep the ratio at 5%, so if you have 100 other links to your website, 5 can be exact match anchor text.
3. On-page SEO.
The Implementation.
After anchor text, we examine your website’s on-page SEO. We optimise your website for local keywords using at least nine markers, just like we would for an e-commerce or national service page.
Meta tags, headings, images, page word count, internal link architecture, keyword density, and more are examined.
On-page factors ensure Google and other search engines find the right information on your website.
4. Site Structure.
Putting it all together.
This is only really taken into account when dealing with companies that have multiple geographic markets in mind. It might be justified to make separate pages for Glasgow, Shawlands, Govanhill, Battlefield, Pollokshields, etc. depending on the volume of searches. Additionally, creating pages for Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk, etc. will almost always be advantageous if you are targeting Scotland’s central region.
Stronger local targeting is made possible by the ability to target each of these pages at particular local keywords.
5. Google Business Profile.
Covering all bases.
For local SEO to be successful, your Google Business page is essential. A1 SEO will create a Google Business page for you. Just remember to:
- Respond to client feedback received from clients
- Beware of inaccurate suggestions
We consider factors like image geotagging and NAP consistency to enhance your Google Business page. However, the most important factor in a Google Business listing will be proximity, or how close you are to people who are looking for your goods and services.
6. Competitor Research.
Keeping you ahead of the game.
As with any SEO campaign, A1 SEO investigates your competitors to find out why they are ranking highly. Because of this, we can copy and enhance the strategies they use to build links and keep you one step ahead of the competition.
7. Citations.
The Building Blocks.
Citations are an essential element of successful local SEO. No, we don’t intend to overload your websites with directories purchased from Fiverr. Your website is manually submitted to a select few specialised, local directories.
Maintaining Consistency.
It’s crucial to maintain consistency with your name, address, phone number, and website throughout a citation campaign. Google uses directory listings to verify that you are who you say you are and that the address, phone number, website, and place of business all refer to the same entity. For local SEO, it’s important to keep all four consistent.
Unique Descriptions.
When submitting your citations, the majority of SEO agencies will simply copy and paste your business description. This is not good behaviour. Google will only index one of your 40 pages if they all contain the same content (i.e., your description), so in Google’s eyes, you only have one citation. We make sure that the majority of citations are indexed and counted by Google by creating distinctive descriptions for each one.
8. Local Business Schema.
No Stones Left Unturned.
When Googlebot crawls your website, you can talk to it directly using the Schema language.
For a local business, we provide pertinent details like reviews, review cards, GPS coordinates, the address, images, business hours, a phone number, and a website. All of this is being done in an effort to obtain something called rich snippets on the results pages. Rich snippets bring in higher-quality traffic and are frequently a way to rank above your rivals by taking the top spot (the position above the first position).
