Background

This luxury travel website came on board with A1 SEO in April 2022 with an £8,500 monthly SEO budget. The website was only 2.5 years old and had seen good growth in the second year of operating, but was starting to stagnate. The firm approached A1 SEO with aggressive targets of doubling the quarterly revenue of £250,000 to £500,000

Strategy

Content

Most of the content on the page featured bottom of the funnel, commercial keywords. We spun the strategy on it’s head and started posting out more top of the funnel content to both increase searches AND build out proper topical authority. All of our content was ideated based on Wikipedia data and Ahrefs estimated search volume. This data was pulled into SurferSEO where briefs were created and content was written.

Links

We averaged 25 links a month over a 6 month period for this client. We focused on sites with strong traffic that were relevant to the client’s industry. No focus on DA or DR here.

Technical

There was nothing entirely exciting here. We fixed 404s, implemented redirects and applied new, state of the art caching software to the website which brought the site in line with core web vitals. Improving speed saw the conversion increase percentage start to significantly overtake the traffic increase percentage.

Redirects

With the client’s express permission, we were able to acquire 2 highly targetted dropped domains with good backlink portfolios. We redirected these. Google is only picking up ~20% of these site’s referring domains, but these are sites like bbc.co.uk, forbes.com and bbcgoodfood.co.uk
